Combine two distinctly different pieced blocks to create the motion in this quilt. Carl Hentsch of 3 Dog Design Co. uses of tonal jewel tones showcase the intricate secondary patterns.
This design is created with the Creative Grids® Perfect Triangle and Perfect Rectangle.
Inspired by the 120 Degree Ruler from Creative Grids®, Carl created this hexagon quilt based on striped sets. Easy to assemble, with no Y Seams!
Both patterns are due to arrive next month so place your orders now.
This is the third book in the Stripology Mixology Series by GE Designs and is called Stripology Mixology 3 Last Call. The book is 96 pages, full color and illustrates 14 quilts using the Creative Grids® Stripology rulers but instructions for using regular rulers are also included. If you are a member of Gudrun’s Crew on Facebook, you have been lucky enough to see a sneak peak of some of the patterns within. If you aren’t part of her crew, now is the time to join!
The quilts all use the popular precuts (5″ and 10″ squares, 2-1/2″ and 1-1/2″ strips) and the patterns are written for multiple sizes ranging from Crib size to King Size. There is a special chapter in the book on using 1/2 yard bundles to make two quilts from the book which is a great and easy way for stores to make kits for multiple quilts. There are also 12 unique and delicious cocktail recipes included in this book.
Gudrun recommends the Creative Grids® Stripology XL and the Stripology Squared:
Trimming the points of triangles before piecing ensures accuracy. Her Point Trimmers work for 30, 45, 60 and 90 degree angles.
The G-Easy stickers from GE Designs are reusable and can be used to mark the slots on your rulers before cutting. Measure twice, cut once has never been easier!
You all know I am a big fan of Gudrun’s, and can honestly say that this is her best work yet! The books are due to arrive the end of August so place your orders now!
This 12-1/2 x 18-1/2-inch rectangle ruler is the junior version of CGR1224 which is the largest rectangle on the market. This ruler is the perfect choice for those quilters working in smaller spaces but still like to do Home Dec projects, trim quilts, mark cross-hatching, and cut borders up to 12-1/2 inches wide.
Highlights: • The black and white markings are easy to read. • The 1-inch grid lines are marked in 1/8 and 1/4 inch increments. • Use the easy-to-read, black numbers printed on white dots and the 1/4 inch grip sides to cut whole inches. • Use the patented Turn-A-Round feature to cut 1/2 inch increments. Just follow the white numbers printed on black circles and 1/2 inch grip side. • The 1/4 inch dashed lines printed on two adjoining sides aid in trimming seam allowances. • The ruler also features 30, 45, 60, and 120 degree angles – that run in opposing directions.. • White horizontal and vertical lines are printed on the rectangle so the center of the ruler is easily distinguishable as well. Use these lines to fussy cut stripes and borders. • The ruler slides easily over the fabric until pressure is applied. Then, our exclusive grip holds the fabric in place while cutting, eliminating slipping and miss-cuts. • Scan the QR Code printed on the ruler to view a tutorial of these features.

The “weight” is over! Everything is now in stock. The Creative Grids® 45mm rotary cutter is designed with you in mind. The sleek red metal body adds weight to the cutter so less pressure is required when cutting fabric. The cushioned, comfort grip is designed to fit your hand, reducing slips and muscle fatigue.
When the button is in the center, the guard fully protects the blade when not in use. Move the button a quarter circle to the left or right to expose the blade for right and left handed users. The exposed blade is specifically designed to extend beyond the guard to work with the Creative Grids® slotted rulers.
To replace the blade, simply pull down on the tab to release it and add a new blade – a one step process.
The Creative Grids® 45mm rotary cutter comes in a protective zippered case that includes plenty of room to store additional blades and notions. Watch the videoto view all of the features of the tool!
The case is also available separately.
The blades come in packages of 2 and 5.
Why not have one open at your cutting counter so your customers can try it and feel the difference???
The pineapple popout series showcases a new technique. The center pineapple block is made with the Creative Grids® Mini Pineapple Trim Tool (#CGRJAW3MINI) with rounds that finish at ½-inch. Additional rounds are added and trimmed with the Creative Grids® Pineapple Trim Tool (#CGRJAW3) to create 1-inch finished rounds. Click here to see a video showing this technique.
In this table runner from Cut Loose Press™, (Pineapple Popout #CLPJAW085) the colors are reversed in alternate blocks to enhance the dimensional effect. Since the corners of the block are pieced from the same fabric as the borders, the pineapples seem to float across the table. Since each round is trimmed after cutting, sewing and pressing, the results are perfect every time.
In this quilt from Cut Loose Press™, (Pineapple Popout Spice #CLPJAW079) the colors are reversed in each set of coordinated prints to enhance the dimensional effect. The scrappy border and binding add a modern feel to this stunning quilt. And since each round is trimmed after cutting, sewing and pressing, the results are perfect every time.
In this tote from Cut Loose Press (Pineapple Popout Totte #CLPJAW086), the colors are reversed in alternate blocks to enhance the dimensional effect. One block is bound and added as a pocket on one side. The fabrics and handle are reversed on the other side. Since each round is trimmed after cutting, sewing and pressing, the results are perfect every time.
Tip: Eliminate the math by cutting the strips using the line down the center of any of the Creative Grids® 2-1/2-inch wide rectangles. This white line is at the 1-1/4-inch mark, the width of the strips needed to make the mini-block. Use the line down the center of any of the Creative Grids® 3-1/2 inch wide rectangles to cut the strips for the outer rounds.
Welcome Spring with Meadow the meadowlark. It is all about fabric placement. Meadow from Cut Loose Press™ combines courthouse steps log cabin blocks in a variety of colorways to create this stunning quilt. A few of the blocks are modified by adding triangles and even a prairie-point to enhance the design. The eye is created by starting with a half-square triangle for the center square. Simply genius!
Since each round of logs is trimmed before the next round is added, perfection is guaranteed.
We all have an angel in our life and maybe Gracie can be yours! It is all about fabric placement. Gracie combines two different sizes of courthouse steps log cabin blocks, 4 and 8-inch, both sizes created with the Creative Grids® Log Cabin Trim Tool Duo. But you may want the smaller size as well since it is easier to manipulate when trimming the smaller size.
Tip: Eliminate the math by cutting the strips using the line down the center of any of the Creative Grids 2-1/2 inch wide rectangles. This white line is at the 1-1/4 inch mark, the width of the strips needed to make this block.
Warning – these are like putting together jigsaw puzzles. Once you make one, you won’t be able to stop! Check out all of Lisa DeBord’s patterns in this series to see the complete collection.

This English Paper Pieced Tree Skirt is beautifully hand-pieced using the traditional EPP method. Instructions for glue basting, sewing, and adding a facing are included in the pattern. An EPP-facing method is used to finish the edges of the tree skirt, keeping the scallop-like edge without needing to bind non-right angles. Instructions are also provided for trimming the edges so that the tree skirt can be bound traditionally.
Make a dent in your scraps with a quilt that celebrates your love of fabric scraps! Just a yard and a quarter of background fabric, and a single roll of 2 1/2″ wide Scrap Tape turn a pile of scraps into your new favorite quilt. Sewing scraps onto Scrap Tape is a meditative experience—you’ll love digging to the bottom of your scrap bin and remembering projects from the past as you give these scraps a second life in a quilt! You can curate your scraps in a certain color or set of colors, or go wild with all your favorite scraps!
For those of you who are not familiar with Scrap Tape: The best thing about scrap tape is that it stabilizes the grain line-making all your scraps usable and your strips nice and straight. Make unique 2-1/2″ strips using fabric scraps. Construct with a stitch and flip method, then trim to size. Scrap Tape washes away with water when your project is complete.

Deb posted this quilt on Facebook and I immediately fell in love. Even though there is the illusion of curves, they are actually cut and sewn using the Creative Grids® 2 Peaks in 1 (CGR2P1) tool. Combining blocks made with the Kitty Cornered Tool creates a stunning secondary pattern. The pattern includes fabric requirements for three different sizes from topper to queen.
Deb has had several hundred people make this quilt in her Grids Girl program. She sent me some pictures from those students:

This Cut Loose Press™ pattern #CLPKAL014 features four letters that are all pieced individually after the angles are cut with the Creative Grids® Spiderweb Ruler #CGRKA6. The width of each letter doesn’t matter. Each letter can be trimmed after the sashing strips are added so that the height of each block is exactly the same before they are sewn together.
Karla Alexander is one of my favorite designers because she thinks WAY outside of the box. In this case, she created all of the cutting instructions to work with directional fabrics. And, the pieces are oversized so they are trimmed to size after piecing the angles. With big pieces and built-in fudge factors, even beginners will be successful. The angled pieces are all cut with her Creative Grids® Spiderweb Ruler.
What a great shower or wedding gift. The guests could sign the backing fabric.
At 18 x 53 inches, it would make a statement hanging above a bed! I’m thinking about framing each letter individually and hanging them as a headboard.
