Current Day

In 2017, Brad Krieger was named President of Checker Distributors. Rob Krieger and his wife Gina Krieger still remain active Officers of the company. Brad spent 4.5 years on the road as a sales rep and 10 years internally as the fabric buyer, freight manager, purchasing manager, and many other responsibilities.

2018 Checker celebrated its 70th anniversary on Friday, August 3rd after work at the Maumee, Ohio warehouse. There was live music, great food, and just good fun. In the fall, Checker began installing updated carousel units, replacing those installed in 2001. This will again increase capacity, efficiency, and speed in processing customer orders.

2020  In spite of an initial downturn, we remained strong during COVID.  We were deemed an essential business and our customers were grateful.  With continued cooperation from our team, we actually grew significantly and increased our reputation as the best in the industry.  Creative Grids® created the wildly successful Face Mask Template 3 Sizes in 1 #CGRFACE, and The Gypsy Quilter™ brand sourced and sold millions of yards of elastic for face masks.

Sincerely,

Brad Krieger
President

  1. Award-winning author of “Heavenly Patchwork I and II” and “Centennial Stitches” books which Checkers offers invites all quilters and children to enter their 22×22″ patriotic quilts in the God Bless America Quilt Exhibit which is touring the US for three years with all profits from the $100/week-end rental going to provide quilts for wounded soldiers and the families of the fallen.

See quilt photos, entry and rental forms on //www.HeavenlyPatchwork.com. Deadline 12-31-08.

  2. I purchased Snow Flurries a long time ago and am in the process of making this quilt now. I am unclear about stitching the snowflakes on the border blocks. Do you remove the paper (from the paper piecing) or do you embroider through it? I removed part of the paper on a few blocks but they seem to stretch out of shape during the embroidery process. And, you have to remove the paper to transfer the snowflake design too. Thanks for your help.

  3. I purchased the Crazy Christmas Tree cut loose press kit and ruler in another state. I have searched YouTube and I need a tutorial. It is too complicated for me and a tutorial would really help. What suggestions do you have?

  4. Several years ago I purchased the QOV labels you show on your site. I have used every label and can’t find that fabric. If you have it available I will gladly buy a bolt since I make about thirty to fifty QOVs each year

  5. How do I get the cat foundation piecing papers? I would love to try and make a quilt from those.
