These are a sewing machine projects. Your sewing machine will need a zigzag stitch and be able to handle sewing something like jeans. 50wt high quality thread is also highly recommended. This charming 18″ x 18″ puffin donning rain boots and a hat, can be transformed into a wall hanging, a pillow, or a quilt block. Trace the pattern pieces onto double-stick fusible interfacing, such as Steam-A-Seam 2, and apply them to your fabric. Cut the pieces, place them on a background and fuse them together using an iron. Finally, finish off your project by topstitching the pieces together, and voila! Your creation is complete! Robin Pickens is releasing the last three in her “Seasonal Courier” series. The cross-stitch finishes on 14-count Aida or 28-count Evenweave at approx 5 x 7″ (5-1/2 x 7-3/4″ for 25-count Lugana) and features a robin bird and cheery tulips.

It can also be stitched on Lori Holt Vintage Cross Stitch Cloth or Charles Craft Monaco in Tea Dyed. 13 DMC colors are specified (and listed on the website).

Franken-Patches by Sarah Fulks is a great stash buster. Or buy packs of 5-inch squares. The blocks are sub-cut after piecing so the finished design is much easier to achieve than you may think!
