The Chicks are in the House

Sue Spargo’s patterns and books just make me happy! Her bright colors and quirky style can’t help but make you smile. Just look at Chick Play! Each Chick has her own personality right down to the legs – and the way she struts her stuff!

Flower Play – with bees a buzzing – provides a perfect opportunity to practice and perfect your embroidery stitches.

Both patterns provide a launching pad to your own creativity. Sue offers a few possibilities and the basic template and suggests you then let your own creative juices flow. Inspiration is readily available, however, in her book – Creative Stitches.

What a great combo gift this holiday season!

New Releases by Purple Pineapple Studio

These 5 x 7-inch postcards by Purple Pineapple Studio carry a lot of inspiration at an affordable price! I love One Way. Picture it as a Quilts of Valor quilt with red on one side of the neutral stripes and blue on the other!

Ask participants to bring in 2 1/2″ strips and start sewing!

These nested flying geese in Echo Echo make a dramatic statement at 60 x 80 inches and can be finished in a matter of hours.

Formation is an opportunity for those geese to stand alone and make a statement – whichever way they fly!

With the resurgence in popularity of the old Nintendo games, this quilt will bring a smile to any gamer’s face.

All of these quilts by Amy J. Bradley are nice sized throws and simple to make. What a great modern take on a beginner class!

Stripology Squared Mini Quilt Ruler is in the Building!

I love this little guy! It is so easy to manipulate! I don’t want to miss any of its great features, so I will let Gudrun’s description shine:

Stripology Squared Mini has all of the features of the original Stripology Squared ruler plus a few additional features you will love. It includes markings to square up half-square triangles, quarter-square triangles, and blocks up to 6 inches finished.

The smaller size is easier to manipulate and makes squaring up blocks a breeze. Follow the easy-to-read markings – stars for 1 1/2 inch cuts and squares for 2 1/2 inch cuts, – no math required! Turn the ruler around and use the markings on the opposite edge to cut 1/4 inch and 3/4 inch cuts – no chart required. Or use the 1/8 and 3/8 inch dashed lines to cut eighth-inch increment strips.

Take a few minutes to watch the Video.

She has created these “Lil” patterns that retail for just $6.00 to support them – all made with 5-inch squares. What a great way to demo the ruler! Each project takes just a few hours to make – and teaches great techniques at an affordable price. And who doesn’t have some 5-inch packs laying around???

There is also a Cut Loose Press™ pattern – can’t wait to make this one in black and grays!

Stripology Mixology will be out next month. It combines patterns using all of the Stripology series. All of the quilts – and there are 13 of them – have instructions to create them in multiple sizes. AND, all are pre-cut friendly.

An added bonus? Gudrun loves a good cocktail so she has included some of her favorites.

Jelly Roll Rugs just got rounder!

For those of you who have made the jelly roll rug patterns the #1 and #2 on the Checker site, drum roll, please….

The Colossal Round Rug comes in two sizes: a 38″ version that uses one jelly roll and a 54″ option that uses two. This is a slightly more advanced version because you have to learn how to stop cupping when sewing the curve – not hard, just a different technique!

Why not start a series of classes beginning with the easiest – the rectangular version:

Then offer a second class for the oval – which is an introduction to curves:

All three patterns use the pre-cut batting strips and jean needles. The newest version is due to arrive the middle of November so plan now!

Diamonds ARE a girl’s best friend!

Going to Market? Be sure to go to Krista Moser’s school house:

Come learn about all the ‘bells and whistles’ on the NEW Creative Grids® 60 Degree Diamond Ruler… including a trunk show of BRAND NEW patterns, and a Block of the Month!

Check out the dramatic way she uses these stripes!

Made with 2-1/2in strips, the Semaphore Stripes quilt is the perfect way to use striped fabric to make a secondary design without all the complicated piecing stripes typically require, and it’s jelly roll friendly! This quilt combines strip-piecing with a few well-placed Y seams to get the most dramatic effect. The pieces are large and uncomplicated, letting the fabric do the talking.

The Big Sky Bloom quilt is perfect for a little girls room, or as a cheerful answer to any room’s dreary decor. This pattern uses several features of the Creative Grids 60 degree Diamond ruler and has beautifully illustrated easy to follow instructions. Strip piece, then cut diamonds and triangles in different sizes to get the full effect.

This is just a sneak peak of the new releases at Market! Bring your calendar because you are going to want to book a class!
