New from Sookie Sews

Need some instant gratification while learning new skills? These projects can be finished in a class! Keep your valuables safe in your closet under your clothing. Traditional safes are easy to spot and not portable. The hanger safe is neatly hidden under a jacket and even placed under a low cut blouse. The front is finished with five rolled hem pintucks and flat lace insertion. This creates the appearance of a feminine heirloom camisole, also making it difficult for a thief to identify its true purpose. The loops have delicate flatlock detail and above the decorative front, there is a zippered pocket extending the length of the safe with a lovely touch of scalloped edge lace along the bottom. Lastly, there is a hidden zipper pocket underneath for even more security and perfectly fits two passports. The entire safe is made on a serger! These extra presser feet are required: Blindstitch foot and 5mm Piping foot. This is a must have item for your closet or next travel getaway. Finished size 16in x 16in with straps included.

Get festive for the holidays using decorative and functional stitches on your serger. Stitch up this giant candy cane patterned table runner along with coordinating simple napkins and ties. On the table runner, the stripes are fused to the main fabric. Then the raw edges are finished like applique with a coverstitch with decorative thread. In between each stripe are three decorative thread chainstitches to carry out the candy cane theme. Around the outside is nicely finished piping around the curves and it is fully lined allowing for the option of having it reversible, 5mm Piping foot required. The napkins have two size options and are a basic two tone completely lined with rolled hem ties to wrap around. Slip a little candy candy inside for added decoration. Enjoy stitching this up while learning more about your machine. Final Dimensions Table Runner 34” x 13-1/2” and Napkins either 14” or 18” Square

Get dolled up and look festive in the Mrs. Santa Serger apron. The adjustable neck strap and front are constructed with decorative flatlock stitches. The waistband has a clever way of attaching to the skirt along with professionally pointed mitered tails. The best part of this adorable apron is the bottom of the skirt. There are the two rows of beautiful coverstitch gathers with the perfectly attached binding along the bottom edge. The apron is fully lined, made entirely on the serger with a little hand sewing touches. These are the specialty Serger feet required: Blindstitch foot and Double Fold Binder 36mm plus accessory holder. Final Dimensions 22” x 28-1/2” One size fits most.

This useful and sophisticated caddy is designed to drape over the arm of your couch with one end tucked under the cushion and the other holding essentials. There are a total of three pockets, two along the bottom ideal for housing remotes, cell phones, and glasses with a larger pocket for tablets, books, and magazines. The pockets are neatly wrapped with contrasting binding finished with a narrow coverstitch. The front has a series of decorative cover and chainstitches along with each side featuring a row of piping adding structure and style. The entire caddy is made on a serger with these required specialty feet and accessories: Piping 5mm Large and Double Fold Binder 36mm plus accessory holder. Final Dimensions Overall 29” x 3-1/2”, Top Pocket 6” tall, Bottom Pocket 9” tall.

The instructions include two different sizes and options for multiple inside pockets and even a zippered pocket if you so desire! And, yes, we have you covered because Checker carries the 1″ grommets in a champagne, nickel and black. Why not add this to your class schedule?
