Diamonds ARE a Girl’s Best Friend

Krista Moser – the creator of the newest member of the Creative Grids family – is one talented lady! This sixty degree diamond tool has triple the punch – cut hexies, sixty degree triangles AND diamonds up to 16 1/2″. Now that is a lot of bang for your buck!

These two Cut Loose Press patterns are darling and showcase the different features of the tool. Hexie Hot Air Baloons is made out of hexies and trapezoids. Woven Jewelbox is so simple since it is created entirely from 2 1/2″ strips.

The Perfect Ruler Wrap

Annie Unrein creates the perfect bags so when we wanted to develop a storage system for Creative Grids® rulers, she was our first call. The prototype was the hit at Market – and in January you will see why!

In Annie’s words: Store and carry rulers, an 18″ x 24″ mat, rotary cutters, and more in the handy padded organizers. Organizers in two sizes may be hung on the back of a door or folded and wrapped to carry to classes. Straps secure the flap and an adjustable, detachable padded carrying strap make the organizer easy to transport.

Opened, the storage unit can be hung on the back of a door in your sewing room. When going to classes, simply fold it up and take it with you. We filled it with 17 rulers with lots of room to spare!

I love the thought that went into this design! It is 72″ long so it holds a multitude of rulers AND uses a 2 yard cut of Soft and Stable, which is available as a pre-cut. The bag is 27″ wide so it will hold those 24-1/2″ rulers AND one package of 54″ mesh can be cut in half and used for all of the pockets No waste! The bag requires two yards of fabric for the outside and two yards for the lining. Why not teach a machine quilting class so they can learn another technique?

Don’t you love inspired design???

New from Angela Walters – Creative Grids® Machine Quilting Templates

Angela Walters has developed a series of machine quilting templates with Creative Grids®. You talk about a marriage made in heaven! Angela’s genius with our signature grip! These templates are 1/4″ thick acrylic so they work well on a standard sewing machine as well as a longarm. They were specifically designed to fit in the palm of your hand so they are easy to manipulate on either machine.

The black and white markings show up on dark and light fabrics. And the printed grid lines make spacing quilt lines a breeze. The video instructions include potential quilting designs that can be created with each tool. The video can be accessed by scanning the QR code on the back of the package, visit www.checkerdist.com, or  www.creativegridsusa.com. But we all know that Angela really shines when she is in front of the camera so she will be releasing more videos very soon. We will keep you posted!

You Asked, We Delivered

We have had many requests for an 18 1/2 inch version of our most popular workhorse – the 8 1/2 x 24 1/2 inch ruler.  You asked, we listened – and it is IN STOCK now!

cgr818

This ruler has all of the great features of the original:

It is the perfect size to span the most popular size of rotary cutting mats. And, since it is 25% smaller than the original 24-1/2″ version, it is easier to manipulate. The wide width makes it the perfect choice to square up corners and borders.

It features easy-to-read black and white markings printed in 1″ grids marked in 1/8″ and 1/4″ increments. Use the black numbers (printed on white dots) and the 1/4″ grip sides to cut whole inches, while the white numbers (printed on black dots) and the 1/2″ grip sides add the 1/2″ seam allowance.

The ruler slides easily over the fabric until pressure is applied. Then, our exclusive gripper holds the fabric in place while cutting, eliminating slipping and miss-cuts!

Use the white 45º angle to trim half-square triangles in whole inch increments. Use the black 45º angle to trim half-square triangles in half inch increments. An additional black 45º line is placed so that two angles cross 1/4″ away from the outside edge. Use these markings to square up flying geese units; squares set on point or mark cross-hatching. The ruler also features a 30º- 60º angle.

White horizontal and vertical lines are printed on the rectangle so the center of the ruler is easily distinguishable. Use these lines to fussy cut stripes and borders.

I didn’t want to leave anything out so the above is the description exactly how it appears on the website.  This is a perfect opportunity to introduce this ruler and reiterate the great features of the entire line!

Simply stop after six rounds for a four inch size; add two more for the five inch version; or complete all ten for the six inch version.  As an added bonus, these strips are cut 1 1/4″ wide – half the width of the popular 2 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ ruler.  Therefore you can use that white center line to cut jelly rolls in half and start sewing a multitude of blocks in no time!

Square on Square – the hit at Road to California

I demonstrated the Creative Grids® Square on Square rulers at the Road to California show and they loved them!
CGRJAW8
Item #CGRJAW8  Retail $19.95

Why does everyone LOVE this tool?  For the same reason, they love the entire line of Jean Ann Wright’s trim tools.  All of these tools solve the problems quilters face when piecing blocks that start with a center square.  These blocks tend to become skewed because of cutting inconsistencies; variations in seam allowances; and distortions while pressing.

The triangles are cut slightly larger and trimmed to size AFTER cutting, sewing and pressing – and the end result is spectacular!

Check out this new Spinning Snails pattern by Lynn Roddy Brown.  Yes – this is the first tool designed to create the Snail’s Trail block.  It is simply the color placement of the triangles.  And don’t you love the scrappy look and the rail fence border???CLPLRB001

Look what happens when you piece a block and center it in a square on square.CLPJAW040
Item #CLPJAW040

The additional bells and whistles make this a must have:
1.  The cutting instructions are printed right on the tool. (The outside edge of the block is always on the straight of grain.)
2.  Create a 4″ block by stopping after two triangles or complete an 8″ block by adding four rounds of triangles.
3.  Use the squares on the ruler to piece or fussy cut a 2″ or 4″ finished square.

These added features expand the design potential exponentially!  Why not give it a try?  It also comes in a six-inch version.  (Item #CGRJAW7).  Whichever size you choose, you will be happy with the result!
