Be Inspired to Try Collage!

When twenty patterns using the same technique are in the top 100, you better take notice!  Many shops are paying their rent with these patterns and classes by Laura Heine.  What about you????  If you are a little nervous, start out by reading her book on choosing fabrics.  But remember – everyone who takes a class will want a copy as well….

A Legend Has Returned

There are few people who truly have achieved legendary status in our industry – and when you combine talent with a gracious, kind and warm personality, you have Nancy Halvorsen!  And I am thrilled to announce that she has returned with a new book and line of fabric that you are sure to love!

Bree has mass appeal!  It is colorful, happy, and charming – an irresistible combination!  And for those of you who were looking for an updated version of 30’s fabric, it has arrived!

The line has 38 bolts and is available in 10 and 15 yard cuts as well as 2 1/2″ strips and fat quarters.  The focus print comes in several colors and is a stunning paisley.

The checks have little dots running vertically and horizontally to add extra interest to the piece.  I can’t wait to use this as a binding!

And then there are the swirls…..

And a  book that ties them all together…This book includes a block the month cover quilt with words that are sure to inspire along with 21 projects for every season!

And everything will be available in your quilt shops in July!  Summer just got a whole lot better!

Ovals All Ways – Literally

Finally!  A tool that cuts ovals!  No more elongated half circle hot dog shapes!  The Creative Grids® Ovals All Ways Ruler designed by Karla Alexander, cuts ovals, semi-ovals, and quarter-ovals from 3″ x 4 ½” to 8 ½” x 10″ and every half-inch between. Since this ruler is designed to be used in multiple ways, additional markings are included for techniques such as fusible applique, piecing and turned-edge applique.

If only my laundry looked so good!  Spin Cycle showcases a variety of ways to use this ruler. And don’t you just love the color combinations?  Trading Places uses the positive and negative space to create even more interesting patterns.  And then there is Enchanted!  Jasmine would have been proud to fly on this magic carpet!

And since they are ovals, they are even easier to piece than circles.  Watch the video for even more inspiration!  Why not teach a class on ovals and ease them into the Circle Savvy?  But with all of these possibilities, they will want to stay and play for awhile!
