New Canuck Quilter Designs

In her own words, assembling this easy whimsical sailboat quilt is as fun as a day at the seaside. Blocks and rows come together without the need to match any seams. Wave blocks are strip pieced for quick assembly. The sailboat blocks use stitch and flip techniques for the boat hull and for the half rectangle sail units.

Sail units are intentionally oversized then trimmed down to size for a perfect fit every time. A paper trimming template to pair with a standard quilting ruler is included. Quilt measures 50.5 in. x 67 in.

Sailing School

This 50.5 in x 67 in throw quilt was designed as a fun, quick project. The star blocks use a stitch and flip technique and are designed to make it impossible to accidentally cut off points. Wave blocks are strip pieced and require no seam matching.

There are also no seams to match when joining blocks or rows, making this a very stress-free design. While the cover quilt has a seaside vibe, the design would also look lovely in Christmas colors, or in any color combination to suit personal taste or a particular season.

Breadcrumbs is a table set designed to showcase a favorite focus fabric or solid color. Large pieces make this a quick project. Pattern includes two versions, one with a single focus fabric, the second with the focus fabric and a coordinating accent. Four placemats each measure 12 1/2 in x 18 5/8 in. The runner, which makes use of focus fabric triangles left over from making the placemats, measures 15 1/2 in x 48 1/2 in.

The star blocks in Evening Light are a good candidate for showcasing a favorite medium scale print. Try florals for a soft and elegant look, or a novelty print for a bolder, more whimsical quilt. All units are made using techniques that require no cut triangles. The pattern includes instructions and yardage requirements for five different sizes from baby to king.
