Indygo Junction has been on the cutting edge of transferring Vintage photos to fabrics. I was always curious – but never quite understood the process. After all, I am technologically challenged – and I just didn’t want to take the time to deal with the learning curve on a new technology!
Well, surprise, surprise! There IS no learning curve! I should have known when dealing with a company like Indygo Junction that they had all of their ducks in a row – and would have made the process easy – even for a novice like me!
Item #IJ794 Retail $8.99
How cute are these!!! The pattern includes instructions on how to make all of the different shapes of pin cushions. You simply download the images onto your computer and print them out on your favorite fabric transfer sheets.
Then, you just cut them out and sew them into these simple – but absolutely adorable projects. Wouldn’t these be the perfect gifts for your favorite quilt group – and they could all be made in an afternoon. You can even combine antique buttons and trims from your collection. Everyone will think you have been scouring antique shops for months!
Electric Quilt provided the fabric transfer sheets for our pin cushions. It is the first time I have used their product – and what a difference! The fabric is backed with a plastic sheet that runs easily through a copier. And, it is easily removed – no more struggling with the paper backings that simply do not want to release! The plastic backing came off in one piece with one pull – no frustrations!
Item #P-FABRC Retail $16.95 for 6 sheets
These pin cushions are functional. The pins do not damage the transfers in any way. In fact, an antique dealer came in and said they would fit right in her shop – and she would have to label them so her customers would know they were reproductions!
And, the transfers are printed on a quality fabric that had a wonderful feel. I was truly impressed. Why not offer a class on these pin cushions and demonstrate how easy it is to use the pattern – and photo fabric transfer sheets?
Then, you can follow up with transferring their own photos to fabrics for T-Shirt quilts just in time for graduations. And, you might enjoy it so much, you’ll want to try the other great photo transfer programs and fabrics by Electric Quilt. Why not be on the cutting edge of technology, for a change, instead of playing catch up! Believe me, it is a refreshing change!
