Teacher’s Pet New Woolies

Just in time for the holidays, Kathy Brown of Teacher’s Pet is releasing several new patterns that can be made in a day or two. What sets these apart from other designs? The clever and unusual ways she chooses to display them! Check out this Halloween scene displayed on a dust pan!

God Bless the Ewe S A is displayed on a grater – and can be created with wool or needle punch – either version will add that awe factor to any decor.

These patterns are so reasonably priced that your customers will want ALL of them so order accordingly! They are all due to arrive later this month so you still have time to make samples.

New Patterns that are Guaranteed Sales

Shadow Song

There is a reason that 6 out of the top 20 patterns are by Atkinson Designs!  She creates projects that appeal to all generations and are constructed in such a way that anyone can make them – and be proud of the finished product!    Shadow Song is a perfect example.  It is the perfect beginning quilt class for your shop – but everyone will want one!

Item #ATK159  Retail $9.00

Notice that the points of the triangles float in this variation of a Churn Dash or Shoo Fly block. When the pieced blocks are completed, they can be squared up to the exact same size as the strip pieced units.  And the strip pieced units are cut to a series of different widths so only one seam matches from row to row (the churn dash blocks placed in the middle of the quilt).  Once the blocks are pieced, there are four seams per row so as long as their seam allowance is consistent, everything goes together beautifully.  And, when they are done, they are done – no sashings, multiple borders, etc. – a great two part class!

Lollipop Bags

This pattern includes the bags in two sizes – and sits on an oval base.  These are quick and easy gifts – just in time for Christmas..and at $6.50, it is a fast, affordable class.

Item #ATK160  Retail $6.50

Don’t forget to order the hooks….

Item #ATK10AB (Brass)  Retail $3.49
Item #ATK511N (Nickel)  Retail $3.49

Table Runner and Winter Partners

I love redwork and bluework – especially around the holidays.  A basket with red pearl cotton and an embroidered project looks like it is a part of the holiday decorations.  And, these two new patterns by Bird Brain Designs work up so quickly that you will finish them in plenty of time…

Item #BBD568  Retail $9.00

Item #BBD571  Retail $9.00

The three dimensional flower creations from La Tadora are incredibly popular.  Look at these latest creations….plenty of time to makae these for Christmas.

This no-sew project is oh so portable….

Item #LAT018CRE  Retail $9.00

Teacher’s Pet

Kathy Brown is one of my favorite designers.  She knows that many of us are working out of our stashes during these economic times so she created a pattern line that uses fat quarters.  Most quilters have a few hundred of those laying around – and at just $6.50, they are affordable as well as adorable…enter Fat Quarter Quickies…

Fiddlesticks is a fun, fast quilt.  As long as your students seam allowances are consistent, this quilt will go together fast and easy.

Item #TP5010  Retail $6.50

Sweet ‘n Sassy Gift Sack

This is just adorable – and in holiday fabrics, is sure to make everyone smile…

Item #TP5011  Retail $6.50

Since these are brand new, they may not be in stock immediately – but if you are not going to Market, these patterns are my way of giving you a sneak peak…..

Fat Quarter Quickies joins forces with Creative Grids

The newest Creative Grids ruler has arrived!  This Kathy Brown creation makes quick work of cutting ALL of the pre-cuts on the Market.  The black markings on the ruler are used to cut all of the pre-cuts that are based on 2 1/2″ or 5″ cuts.  Flip the ruler around to cut all of the pre-cuts based on 1 1/2″ strips or 6″ cuts.

The markings on the Fat Quarter Cutter are simple and easy to read – large numbers and no unnecessary lines!

Item #CGRY1  Retail $ 25.95

When Kathy was at the Open House, she taped a video to show you exactly how it works:

And, in typical Kathy style, this Teacher’s Pet is ever the over-achiever – and has designed a series of patterns specifically for this ruler!  It can also be used for many of her other patterns, but this new series are something special!  Many of this new series are printed on a sturdy card stock with a glossy finish – similar to the cover of a book.  The size and format are adorable!

Grammie’s Buttons

I love this quilt!  What a great way to create a controlled scrappy look!  The inner scrappy border adds a great decorative touch.  Kit an assortment of “buttons” and let them buy the black Kona separately.  Quilters always love affordable kits!

Item #TP500  Retail $9.00

Field of Dreams

Just in time for fall – another great kit to quilt.  Again, by allowing them to buy the background separately, the kits for the borders, binding, and leaves is very affordable.

Item #TP501  Retail $9.00

I love this series of quick and easy patterns.  All of them would make great classes and have learning opportunities.  These projects make great gifts – so would be great choices for Fall classes.  Everyone is already thinking about holiday gifts….

Flip Flop Mop

Who doesn’t love flip flops?  And these are made to be great dusters!  Teach your students how to sew terry cloth and they can whip these up in no time!

Item #TP5000  Retail $6.50

Press ‘N Go

This mat is easy to store – and a great way to teach your students about Insul-Bright (single package- Item #6345WN $7.65 or by the 20 yard bolt – 6320WN).  This batting incorporates an insulating factor into the batting so it is a perfect ironing mat.  You may also choose to use Silver Thermal Fleece on the reverse side (Item #103714).  You can actually buy this traditional ironing board cover material by the bolt!

Item #TP5001  Retail $6.50

Check It Out

These throws are a great way to teach your students about color!  Choose a light, medium and dark shade of the same color and you can create these quilts which look like old fashioned gingham.  The color choices make this quilt masculine OR feminine – or neutral!

Item #TP5002  Retail $6.50

Bali Breeze Bed Runner

This pattern can be a table runner or a bed runner – and again, is a great choice for a class on color.  Kathy chose fabrics that gave this a blended color wash look – and who doesn’t love batiks?

Item #TP5003  Retail $6.50

The next two will be available very soon.  They are at the printers as we speak!

Frost Bite Revisited

This is the first Teacher’s Pet pattern I ever bought for my shop!  I kitted it out of flannels – and it is still one of my favorites.  It is easy to kit and makes a great holiday gift!  Who wouldn’t love to cuddle up in this when the snow starts to fly?

Item #TP5172  Retail $6.50

Sunflower Pincushion

Cut the strips with the CGRY1 Fat Quarter Cutter and then sub-cut the strips into petals with the CGR18CF.  I love this ruler – it makes short work of 20 petal Dresden Plates.  You may choose to incorporate wool and pearl cotton embroidery into this project.  What a great way to demonstrate the buttonhole stitch!

Item #TP5005  Retail $6.50

Item #CGR18CF  Retail $24.95

Don’t you love it when Creative Grids and the designer combine forces to give you the whole package?  A ruler, pattern, and kit would be a great gift this holiday season.  But, they can’t buy them if you don’t prepare the kits, so order them today!

Kathy Brown, our favorite Teacher’s Pet

When I think of Kathy Brown, I think of sweet iced tea.  With that Louisiana accent and that Southern charm, she is simply irresistible!   And her new book – “Strip-Smart Quilts” – shows that THIS Cajun Queen is incredibly creative and has an amazing sense of style!

Item #B1097T  Retail $24.99

This book features 15 quilts that all use the Creative Grids 90 Degree Double Strip Ruler – and it never looked so good!

Item #CGRDBS90  Retail $25.00

My personal rule of thumb is that a book has to have four projects that I love to make it a worthwhile purchase.  (Three patterns equal the approximate cost of a book – so anything over that is a bonus!)  In this case, I fell in love with ALL of them, so the question became – “which ones would I make first!”  Now I am just going to shut up – and let the quilts speak for themselves!  Here is a sampling of the projects in the book – but certainly not all of them…..

The photography is exquisite!  Every quilt is featured in its own little vignette that makes you imagine – if you just finish the quilt, the homemade brownies and fresh squeezed lemonade will magically appear!

Although these quilts LOOK hard, they are really quite easy – it is a case of having the right tool.  And, in this case, strips of fabric are sewn together and then cut into 90 degree triangles – fast, fun and dramatic!

This book will not be available until May 10th – just in time for Market!  Kathy is joining forces with the fine folks at Creative Grids to demonstrate this ruler and feature the quilts in a Make It/Take It session on Friday morning before Market opens; in a school house on Thursday; and a book signing at the Checker Booth.  She will also be demonstrating at the Creative Grids table sometime during Market.  We will send you a schedule of all of those times and dates when everything is confirmed!

Kathy will also have her own booth under her pattern name – Teacher’s Pet.  Don’t miss out on an opportunity to meet her – you’ll leave with a smile AND a drawl…..

Teacher’s Pet for a Reason

That Kathy Brown has done it again – she is a designing diva who has created eight new patterns and a new book for Market.  And, she is one of the nicest, down to earth people in the industry.  Kathy is doing a book signing in our booth at Market as well as staffing her own booth, so take this opportunity to meet her! You will be talking with a Louisiana drawl in no time!

Item #B976T  Retail $22.95

The Teacher’s Pet has added five new patterns to her “It’s Hip to Strip” series.  These patterns each use one jelly roll plus border fabrics – and in some cases a background fabric.  Combining a roll with one or two fabrics makes them easy to cut and easy to kit. And, every pattern makes a generous lap quilt.  A picture is worth a thousand words, so here we go…..
