Bike Trip!

These gals are having way too much fun on this retreat!  Now they are biking into town to do some major shopping!  Can’t wait to see what is in their baskets.

For those of you not familiar with this embroidery block of the month by Crabapple Hill, there are six patterns in the series.  Five patterns are embroidery designs and the final pattern gives instructions on how to put the entire project together.

It is kind of a mystery because you don’t know what the completed quilt will look like or at this point, what the final embroidery is!  And, frankly, that is part of the fun.  Everything that Meg Hawkey does is amazing so we know we will love it!

The latest installment is due to arrive in September so order it now.  Don’t forget to order extras of the first three installments for those who are late to arrive at the party.  The floss colors for each pattern are listed as companions on the website so be sure to have those in stock as well!

The Witches of Salem have Arrived

CAH347In this third of a four part series (#CAH347), the Salem Guild Meeting is in session!  This is the last of the embroidery panels so your customers can have all of them completed before the finishing pattern is released!
All three embroidery panels measure 15″ x 42″.  With the addition of the pieced blocks included in the final pattern in the series being released later this year, the final quilt will measure 57″ x 72″.
Be sure to have the recommended Cosmos thread on hand.  For ease of ordering, they are all listed as companions to each pattern on the Checker website.

Order the first two patterns (#CAH345 and #CAH346) so those shop hoppers can buy the collection – and offer the flosses required as a kit as well.  You know they like one stop shopping!

Start a family tradition by creating your own bedtime stories based on this quilt!  Start now, and the panels could be done by Halloween!

Meg Hawkey and Halloween – CrabApple Hill style…

One of my favorite things at Spring Market is seeing the release of Meg Hawkey’s new patterns – and that usually means Halloween is just around the corner.  If you are NOT making a big deal of this holiday in your store, you are missing the boat.  Halloween sales are now second only to Christmas in the retail industry.  Vampires and witches top the charts in books and movies – and now quilting!

Once you see her newest creations, you won’t be able to resist!

Crabapple Hill

Meg Hawkey is one of my favorite designers so you would think I actually embroider – but I don’t!  I continue to buy her patterns because I dream of creating her designs someday.  And for some reason, that is enough when I look at these heirloom quality designs.

Crabapple Hill always adds the ahhhhh factor

Meg Hawkey has done it again!  I love her embroidery designs – and the way she incorporates them into the most amazing quilted projects.  Her snowmen and Halloween designs are my absolute favorites and her newest additions to her holiday lines will make your finished projects instant heirlooms.  Embroidery is the perfect portable summer project.  All you have to do is go to your favorite quilt shop and get started…….

Item #CAH317 Retail $25.00

Rickrack and ball fringe give this throw a whimsical feel and adds a three dimensional effect that is delightful!  Checker has them both – you just have to decide what color and size!

Item #CAH318  Retail $8.00

In “Midnight Crows”, Meg adds a touch of wool along with vintage buttons from her collection to create a timeless treasure.  The ribbons attach the completed wall hanging to a branch to give it a folk art look.  Sorry – you have to find a branch – in this case, Checker doesn’t stock EVERYTHING!!!

Item #ATH418  Retail $25.00Snowmen A to Zzzz is a beautiful piece.  Many of you have made her other snowmen patterns so you are familiar with the way Meg draws facial expressions to bring them to life.  Unfortunately, photographing this quilt is a challenge so you can’t see all of the detail in this quilt.  Trust me, it is worth every penny and deserves a place of honor in your home this winter!

Better yet, Nancy Weber, the pattern buyer, arranged to have a trunk show of Meg’s newest pieces at the Checker 61st Anniversary Open House August 24, 2009.  This is a wholesale show so ask your local shop owner to be your eyes and ears – and check it out for you.  I’ll do my part and take boatloads of pictures to share after the event.  I’ll get up close and personal on this one so you can see the embroidery AND how it was quilted.  Can’t wait…..
