Gee’s Bend Kits & Solids                                                                                                                                                          November 23, 2009

Hi All:

We have found a few things have come up regarding the Gees Bend Quilt kits and Solid fabrics that we need to address with you so you can better inform your customers.

1. The washing instructions
We sent out a flyer with the fabrics recommending cold water washing before using the fabrics. We actually had more specific testing done and wanted to pass this onto you -Gees Bend Solids and Kit fabrics

We have already done some “test washes” and the fat quarters will be used to educate about caring for these solids. So far, we have washed both light and dark fabrics (separately) in hot water with either Synthrapol or Retayne (both which control fabric bleeding). We also added a color catcher sheet or two (made by Shout http://www.shoutitout.com/preserve-colors.aspx.)

We are pleased to report that while the fabrics do bleed considerably, they all rinsed clear after one wash cycle. And while the dark colors were just a bit changed, we found them a bit brighter and even more appealing. We are very pleased with these results and suggest you share this information with your customers who request washing information.

Hot water was done for the test but cold water washing will create less of a bleed off than hot water will.

2. In the editing process 2 fabric ’switches’ happened on the Housetop Denim quilt kit and we want to alert the buyers to the problem. We have attached the simple corrections. Please note the kit has the correct amount of fabric in them so this is NOT a fabric the problem.

3. Lazy Gal – there are a few minor addition errors that do not affect the quilt. Some of the long strips were adding up to 53″ and they should be 52 1/2″. We wanted you to be aware of this as well so you will not be surprised if a customer asks or is confused. Windham’s  Anna Griffin’s Blythe Christmas Update

This is what we received from Windham on this product.

“Due to technical issues at the mill, we are forced to cancel our offering of Anna Griffin’s Blythe Christmas.

All sales persons should stop offering this collection today March 30, 2009.  All orders have already been cancelled from our system, so you do not have to send me cancellations.

Clover is having a manufacturing issue with the MCI900 mini iron and will be out of stock for a while on this item.  We are temporarily placing this item on a out of stock situation so that it will not backorder, since we will be out of stock indefinitely.
An alternative is 9100CV Mini Iron II- Retail $37.95.
I will update you on this when we are able to stock MCI900 again.
