Our Favorite Veteran Honored

The Quilts of Valor program celebrates it’s 10th anniversary this year.  To date, they have given 85,000 quilts to deserving servicemen and that number continues to grow by approximately 1,000 per month!  Rob Krieger, the President of Checker, served in Viet Nam.  A highlight of Spring Market was when Marianne Fons and Ebony Love surprised him with a Quilts of Valor quilt!

Marianne Fons pieced the top and Ebony Love quilted it…..

Marianne works closely with the Quilts of Valor program.  Ebony Love machine quilts at least one quilt a month as her donation to the program – including this one!

Every quilt has a label.

This is an entirely volunteer effort that was begun by a mother to honor her son and his fellow servicemen.  If you would like to learn more about the program or volunteer, please visit their website:  http://www.qovf.org/index.html

  1. Is there a pattern available to make this quilt? I’m relatively new to quilting but I think I can make this quilt for my son-in-law. I have an Army seal centerpiece that I would like to use in the middle of it and work around that with the triangle blocks but I need a jump start with an actual pattern. Thank you for your help.

  2. This quilt was designed by Marianne Fons and was supposed to appear in an issue of the Fons and Porter magazine. Hope this helps….
