Joan Hawley – Lazy Girl Designs

One of the perks of this job, is that I get to meet the most amazing people – and Joan is at the top of that list!  She is the creative and business genius behind Lazy Girl Designs and is one of the most prolific and respected designers today.

Joan’s new book, Bold Bags includes SEVEN patterns highlighting the Exclusively You line of Mock Croc and Faux Leather panels – along with the coordinating handles and embellishments.  This book retails for $8.95 – talk about a bargain!!!

Joan’s attention to detail is what sets all of her patterns apart – you can actually UNDERSTAND them!  And for those of you who are “visual learners”, there are lots of pictures and graphics – along with the step-by-step instructions.

All of these patterns can be made out of any fabric – but Joan said that the faux leather sewed like a dream!  Her machine didn’t have any problems with it – so give it a try.  We actually made her Bucket Tote out of four Dunroven Kitchen Towels!  Check it out at our booth at market – it is the perfect size to schlep around absolutely everything!

I also loved the way she designed the faux leather into the base of a tote bag.  It not only looks great – it gives the tote added stability – and wipes clean!  Her designs give a whole new meaning to the term “versatile”.

She will be signing free books at the Checker booth on Friday and Saturday morning at 10:00.  Stop by and meet our favorite Lazy Girl – but believe me – she is anything but lazy – and is one of the nicest people you will ever meet!

Check out her other books and patterns too – they feature quality instructions and simple designs that make it possible for even a beginner to succeed – the trademark of her success!

The first 150 shop owners who write orders at Market will receive a tote bag with all kinds of goodies – including Joan’s new ‘Tips’ DVD!
