The new generation of Oliso Irons
Nov 9th, 2009 by Penny Haren
We were fortunate to have Nancy of Oliso irons join us at the Great Lakes show. Â She came to premier the next generation – and they are amazing! Â These are the irons that have the auto lift feature. Â When you let go of the handle, the iron rises up off of the ironing surface so you no longer have to place the iron upright when not in use.
These irons are not cheap – and frankly, that is the point! Â They retail from $150 on up – and you definitely get what you pay for! Â They are worth every penny! Â I never quite understood why quilters would pay $10,000 for a sewing machine – and $30 on a cheap iron bought at a chain store – when they use it to press every single seam!!!! Â Quality matters!

In this case, the Oliso Micro is the standard household iron. Â It is a 1600 watt iron that is perfect for those who iron clothes and linens. Â The automatic shut off is a definite safety feature. Â Notice that these irons have a separation between the sole plate and the tip of the iron. Â This “gap” allows you to iron under a collar or pocket for perfect pressing. Â The eight foot cord reaches the entire length of the ironing board. Â This is the perfect Christmas gift for that man in your life!

The Ultra Precision Smart has 1800 watts – which is the highest allowable for an iron in this country! Â It produces great bursts of steam and has a 10′8″ cord. Â It also has an automatic shut off feature.

And the winner is……the ProZone Smart! Â Nancy was amazed because there was no contest – the top of the line iron is the one that all of the shops bought. Â It has a 30 minute shut-off feature – which was the number one reason everyone bought this iron! Â It also had an 11 foot cord and 1800 watts of power.

You will love it! Â Why not order one for your classroom and offer it as a Christmas special??? Â Only a quilter would be thrilled with an iron for the holidays!!!
