I don't know whether to be sad or glad that others have had the same experience of having this gadget ruin blades. I'm sorry because I really wanted this to work, but glad to see that it isn't just me. Honestly, it turned the equivalent of a steak knife (if not a chef's knife) into something like a butter knife that didn't even score a single layer of fabric. The people at the company were very nice about sending different parts, but nothing seemed to make a difference.

How do you use this sharpener? I have one and it will not do anything but ruin the blades. Do you apply pressure as you rotate the sharpener or just let it rotate freely? Does it sharpen the Martilli ergo rotary blades?

I bought one of these and my husband and I have just spent 3 hours trying to sharpen an Olfa 60 mm blade that was a little dull and had a few places where it didn't cut completely through several layers of fabric. Now the blade won't even cut through 1 layer of fabric. The sharpener really made the blade extremely dull and unusable. What a complete waste of time and money when my hopes were so high.

I bought one of these on the recommendation from my favorite quilt store. She said she had been using this one and it worked beautifully! She was absolutely right! It is one of the best things ever invented. Maybe S Hen got a "lemon" or wasn't using properly. Many fellow quilters at our large quilting guild rave about this wonderful money saving item!

I am surprised that S. Hen had no luck with her rotary blade sharpener. I love mine, and I bought it on the recommendation of a friend who loves hers too.

I recently bought one of these and found it to be an utter failure. I contacted the manufacturer whose response was:
"We have learned that there are poor quality low carbon rotary blades that just simply will not sharpen well because of the soft metal edge rolling over. The Olfa blades and a few others re-sharpen very well in our experience."
Well, I had dull OLFA blades in stock and this product did NOT sharpen them AT ALL. I spent over an hour on one OLFA blade and the final product would not even cut thru 2 layers of broad cloth, or 4 layers of copy machine paper.
The retail price of this product is nearly $30. It was a complete waste of my time and money.
