I love Fall and love the muted tones that Margot uses in her newest patterns from The Pattern Basket. Pumpkin Charms is made with just one charm pack, but if you are like me and love these little guys, you may want to buy more than one!

The Christmas Gnomes by Rachel’s of Greenfield includes the pattern and templates needed to complete all 4 ornaments. Mittens measure approximately 4”x 4.5” and stockings measure approximately 4.5”x 5.5”. The ornaments are finished with open tops to be used as gift card holders. Pieces are cut using templates which are included with the pattern. The Cut pieces are then placed and appliqued in place following the illustrated instructions. Decorative Stitches can be added if desired according to your taste. The pattern provides detailed, illustrated instructions for various stitch types. The pattern also includes full color, illustrated layout design for each ornament. for those who want to challenge themselves, you can add your own personal touches with stitches and embellishments not listed on the pattern.

This Cut Loose Press™ pattern #CLPKAL014 features four letters that are all pieced individually after the angles are cut with the Creative Grids® Spiderweb Ruler #CGRKA6. The width of each letter doesn’t matter. Each letter can be trimmed after the sashing strips are added so that the height of each block is exactly the same before they are sewn together.
Karla Alexander is one of my favorite designers because she thinks WAY outside of the box. In this case, she created all of the cutting instructions to work with directional fabrics. And, the pieces are oversized so they are trimmed to size after piecing the angles. With big pieces and built-in fudge factors, even beginners will be successful. The angled pieces are all cut with her Creative Grids® Spiderweb Ruler.
What a great shower or wedding gift. The guests could sign the backing fabric.
At 18 x 53 inches, it would make a statement hanging above a bed! I’m thinking about framing each letter individually and hanging them as a headboard.

When my kids were growing up, I would write them a love letter every year for Valentine’s Day. We would do a scavenger hunt complete with hokey poems…Roses are red, Daddy is blue; go to the place where he takes a poo…you get the picture!. Emily Dickenson, I am not, but when you raise four boys and a girl, you have to consider your audience!
I had already decided to bring back that tradition for my kids and grandkids this year. Because of the pandemic, I will send poems and letters to the parents and pass on the tradition. But wouldn’t these bags be great envelopes for the letters as well as a few treats?
