Organize your Rulers Today

Having the right tool for the job applies to quilters too.  I have learned that the right ruler can save time and money – as well as guarantee that my final project will be something I can be proud of.  Storing them, however, has been a problem – until now!

194RK
Item #194RK  Retail $10.00

As you can see, it is made to fit over a hanger so you can now “hang” your rulers so they are easily accessible and protected.  An added bonus?  The clutter has been removed from your cutting table!

The pockets are designed to hold 12 and 24 inch rectangles as well as squares from 6 to 12 inches as well as a rotary cutter.  Adjust the pockets as needed.

In my case, I have a LOT of Creative Grids® specialty rulers so I need to include more than one ruler in each pocket.  Annie Unrein of Patterns by Annie has created a polyester mesh that is lightweight and the perfect divider for these pockets.

This keeper is made of a high quality canvas – and yes we have that too.  James Thompson has a Crossroads Denim line that includes a multitude of colors and is the perfect weight for a project like this.

This bag has been designed to be completed quickly and easily.  Layer the pockets on the foundation piece.  Then bind the outside edge just like a quilt.  You can’t get any easier than that!

The Clover 1″ bias tape maker is perfect for this – and a new technique to share in a class!

Add this to your Bucket List

I have literally traveled from coast to coast in the last few months – and saw women working on this quilt on both sides of the country.  Slowly but surely the Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses quilt is quickly becoming the next Dear Jane – a quilt on every serious quilter’s bucket list!
POTC
Item #POTC  Retail $19.95

But who was Lucy Boston?  The back story to this quilt makes it irresistible!  Lucy was an English author who lived at Hemingford Grey.  You can tour the manor today.  These pictures are from their website:

The Manor is moated and is famous for its gardens that spread over four acres.  Lucy wrote a series of children’s books based on this house – known as Green Knowe in her books.  The books were illustrated by her son and include furniture, toys etc. that are still there today.  Here is a picture of the quilt in the home.
POTC_3

Lucy created her quilt in the 1950’s.  It is a large quilt for that time – almost queen sized.

There are LOTS of pictures on line of blocks that quilters have created for their quilts.  The blocks are created with a honeycomb English paper-piecing technique.  Fussy cutting the shapes makes every block a work of art!
